Northern Liberties

William Penn founded the neighborhood of Northern Liberties when he founded Philadelphia.  If you purchased a lot within the city limits, you received a free lot in the "Liberty Lands" to the North.  This calm, northeast corner of the City stands in the shadow of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, tucked between Spring Garden Street and Girard Avenue, from Delaware Avenue to 6th Street.  Its relative isolation is part of the appeal to NoLibs residents.  An eclectic mix of artists and professionals, families and seniors whose passion for the neighborhood is unrivaled.  Developers have predicted a gentrification of this neighborhood for years.  Northern Liberties is what it is, narrow streets abutttings wide boulevards, old churches next to brick row-homes, bohemian shops, cafes, and eateries, peppered with quaint gardens and public art.  This community is a hidden treasure for all those who live there.
